Marassi North Coast: 10 Things You Must Do This Summer

Published on April 17, 2026

You are going to Marassi North Coast. Or you are thinking about it. Either way, you want to know how to make the most of it. Marassi is generous — but it is also large enough that visitors who default to the obvious path (pool, beach, repeat) miss some of its finest experiences.

These are the ten things that experienced Marassi visitors consistently name as the best uses of their time — the experiences that separate a good Marassi holiday from an unforgettable one.

1. Swim in the Mediterranean at Sunrise

This sounds obvious. It is not, because almost nobody does it. The Mediterranean at Marassi in summer is warm (around 25–27°C in July and August), calm in the mornings before the afternoon breeze, and at sunrise completely empty of people. The quality of light on the water at 6:30 am, the colour of the sea as the sun clears the horizon, the silence: it is a fundamentally different experience from the midday beach.

Set an alarm. Wade in while the sand is still cool. Float on your back. Leave your phone on the towel. Thirty minutes of this will stay with you longer than any other single moment of the holiday.

2. Have a Long Dinner at Marassi Marina

Not just dinner — a long dinner. The Marassi Marina is built for exactly this: arrive around sunset, walk the promenade, watch the light change over the water, take your table as the evening comes alive, eat slowly, stay late. The marina's best character unfolds over three or four hours — arriving hungry at 9 pm and leaving at 11 is not the experience. The experience is letting the evening breathe.

Book a waterfront table at one of the seafood restaurants — ideally a day or two in advance for Friday and Saturday visits — and commit to staying until the mood tells you to leave.

3. Take a Morning Boat Trip Along the Coast

The North Coast of Egypt looks completely different from the water than from the beach. A morning boat trip — departing before 8 am, when the sea is glassy and the light is spectacular — shows you the coastline as it actually is: the successive curves of resort developments, the natural coves between them, the open Mediterranean stretching away to the north.

Several operators at and near Marassi Marina offer morning trips with swimming stops at quiet stretches of coast that you simply cannot reach by land. This is one of the most underrated activities at the resort, and one of the first things repeat visitors mention.

4. Walk the Marina Village Slowly

The pedestrian and commercial areas around the marina at Marassi North Coast are designed to be walked slowly, at a Mediterranean pace that most Egyptian summer visitors forget to adopt. Resist the urge to walk the main promenade and consider the job done. Go into the side lanes. Find the small café three streets back that looks out between buildings to a slice of water. Look at the architectural details — the bougainvillea on the white walls, the blue doors, the way the lanes are angled to create shade at certain times of day. Marassi's designers worked hard on every corner of this area and it rewards the visitor who takes their time.

5. Try a Different Juice Bar Every Day

This is a small tip that every experienced Marassi visitor knows. The beach juice bars at Marassi serve fresh-squeezed everything — mango, sugarcane, watermelon, pomegranate, guava, mixed blends of whatever is freshest that morning. They are not expensive, they are ice-cold, and in 38-degree July heat they are among the most straightforwardly satisfying things you can consume.

Make it a ritual. Have a different juice every time you leave or arrive at the beach. Order the one you have never tried. Ask what is good today. It costs almost nothing and adds a small, repeating pleasure to every beach session.

6. Spend One Afternoon at the Pool Instead of the Beach

This sounds wrong. You came to Marassi for the Mediterranean — why would you spend time at a pool? But experienced North Coast visitors know the answer: midday in July and August, from roughly 11:30 am to 4:30 pm, the beach is hot to the point of being unpleasant. The sun is directly overhead, the sand is burning, and the water gives only temporary relief.

The smart pattern at Marassi: sunrise swim in the sea, breakfast, nap, midday at the pool (cooler, shaded sunbeds, food and drink service available), return to the beach from 4:30 pm when the light turns golden and the heat becomes bearable. Save the sea for the ends of the day. The middle is for the pool.

7. Go Out on the Water at Sunset

If the sunrise swim is the finest morning experience at Marassi North Coast, the finest evening one might be on a boat at sunset. Charter a small motorboat or join a sunset trip offered by marina operators — the hour before and after sunset, viewed from the water looking back at the Marassi coastline with the buildings turning gold and the marina lights beginning to come on, is one of those views that justifies an entire holiday.

Book in advance during peak season; this is a popular option and availability is limited on summer evenings.

8. Do a Day Trip to Alexandria

Marassi's location makes it the ideal base for a day trip to Alexandria — Egypt's second city, a Mediterranean port of two millennia of continuous history, and one of the genuinely great cities of the ancient world. Just an hour's drive east, Alexandria offers:

  • The Bibliotheca Alexandrina — the modern incarnation of the ancient Library of Alexandria, an extraordinary piece of architecture and a world-class cultural institution
  • The Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa — Roman-era burial chambers that represent a fascinating fusion of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman artistic traditions
  • The Roman Theatre at Kom El Dikka — the only intact Roman theatre in Egypt
  • Lunch on the Corniche — fresh seafood at one of the legendary Alexandria fish restaurants with views over the Mediterranean harbour
  • The layered street life of downtown Alexandria — Greek-Italian architecture, Egyptian market culture, and North African coastal character all compressed into a few square kilometres

Leave Marassi by 8:30 am, reach Alexandria by 9:30, spend the day exploring, and be back at the marina for sunset dinner. A genuinely memorable addition to a beach holiday.

9. Have One Meal Cooked at Your Villa

If you are staying in a villa or chalet at Marassi, make use of the kitchen for at least one significant meal. The in-compound supermarket carries good quality produce, fresh fish can often be sourced through villa management services, and cooking together — especially with a group — is one of the best things you can do on a summer holiday.

A long lunch at your villa table, cooked by the group, eaten slowly with the windows open and nowhere to be: this is the side of Marassi that hotel guests rarely get to experience.

10. Stay One Night Longer Than You Planned

Without fail, almost everyone who visits Marassi North Coast for the first time says the same thing on the last day: "I wish I had booked one more night." The rhythm of Marassi takes a couple of days to fully settle into — you find your favourite beach spot, your morning café, the right time to hit the marina, the janitor of the villa who knows where the best fish shop is. By the time you have truly arrived, it is time to leave.

If you are planning three nights, make it four. If you are planning a week, plan eight days. The investment is small and the regret of leaving too early is consistent enough that it qualifies as a Marassi tradition.

Frequently Asked Questions About Activities at Marassi

What is Marassi North Coast known for?

Marassi North Coast is known primarily for three things: its beautiful Mediterranean beaches with calm, clear water; the iconic Marassi Marina with its waterfront restaurants and harbour atmosphere; and its Mediterranean-inspired architecture that sets it apart from other Egyptian summer resorts. It was developed by Emaar Misr and is consistently ranked as Egypt's most prestigious North Coast destination.

Is there anything to do at Marassi besides the beach?

Yes — the marina village, water sports, boat trips, al fresco dining, tennis, golf, a range of cafés and restaurants, organised beach events, and an easy day trip distance to Alexandria all provide activities beyond the beach. Marassi is a full lifestyle destination rather than a simple beach resort.

Is Marassi good for children?

Marassi is very popular with families. The calm and shallow Mediterranean water is ideal for children, multiple beach sections have family facilities, major hotels have kids' clubs and family pools, and the in-compound supermarkets and range of casual dining make the logistics of travelling with children manageable.

How many days do you need at Marassi?

A minimum of 4 nights is recommended to genuinely settle into the Marassi rhythm and experience all the highlights. Most visitors wish they had stayed longer — a week is ideal, particularly for first-time visitors who want to explore the marina thoroughly and do the Alexandria day trip.

What is the best season to visit Marassi North Coast?

June through September is peak season when all facilities are fully operational and the atmosphere is at its most vibrant. July and August are peak-of-peak — maximum energy but also maximum crowds and prices. Late June or early September offers the best balance of good conditions and manageable visitor numbers.
